Odisha Nishtha 2.0 Module 7-Activity 6: Share Your Thoughts
Look up the Census data of the sex ratio your district/state and compare it with the national sex ratio. What do you think are the reasons for the good or poor performance of your district/state in terms of sex ratio? Share Your Thoughts.
While sex ratio of India as per census 2011 is 943 females to 1000 males my district Angul is in better position with respect to sex ratio which is 953 in rural areas but picture is different in urban areas of Angul. It is below national level with 889 females in 1000 males. Villages getting urban facilities may create horrible situations in near future. So teachers have a great role to bring a change through proper classroom transactions keeping gender issues in mind.
ReplyDeleteOrissa Sex Ratio
ReplyDeleteSex Ratio in Orissa is 979 i.e. for each 1000 male, which is below national average of 940 as per census 2011. In 2001, the sex ratio of female was 972 per 1000 males in Orissa.
It's ok
ReplyDeleteThe sex ratio in India is 948 females for 1000 males. In Odisha it is 941 females for 1000 males. But in Koraput district the ratio is 1032 females for 1000 males. This is a good news for us and it is only due to the lack of gender discrimination.
ReplyDeleteThe sex ratio of India as of reports in 2011 was 943
ReplyDeleteIn my district that is Angul,in 2011,the sex ratio was 953 in Rural and 889 in Urban.
Even though the number is High in Rural than the country but not much High and obviously not good, should be higher and in Urban things are even worse.Main reason as a whole in both scenarios is gender discrimination and the primitive thinking of wanting a son and not a daughter.
Gender discrimination and lack of proper education
ReplyDeleteThe sex ratio of Odisha is 979per 1000 male. I think it's OK. But if it's diminishing continuously then it's alarming.Abortion of girl child is lowered but it should be abolished completely.
